A very Happy Easter from everyone at The Malthouse B&B.
Spring is in full flow now here in Alton. There is plenty of blossom on trees, plants are starting to bloom and lots of lambs can be seen skipping around in the fields. Life is beautiful!
Hope you have some time off over the holiday weekend to relax and spend time with your family and friends. Whatever you're doing take care!

Gorgeous Lambs!
If you've read our blog before you'll know that as well as being 'Bird Bonkers' we're 'Lamb Lovers'! A few days ago we were working in our garden at The Malthouse and heard an unmistakable noise. It was the sound of ewes and their lambs being let out into a field on the opposite side of the valley from us. The noise was so beautiful that we stopped working for a while and just took in the sights and sounds of the sheep, it was lovely!
The next day we couldn't resist taking a short walk up to the field to see if we could get a better look at the sheep. There is a public footpath that crosses the field so we were able to get these close up pictures of the new arrivals with their mums. Gorgeous I'm sure you'll agree!
To avoid causing the animals unnecessary stress we only stayed in the field for a couple of minutes before tearing ourselves away. If you're coming to stay at our B&B soon be sure to bring your camera. Spring has eventually arrived here in Alton so there are plenty of super photo's to be had!
Need a Spring Break? Take a look at our website www.the-malthouse.com you can send us an email or book online. Like to book by phone or have any questions? Why not telephone us 01538 703273 it's good to talk!

Look What We Saw on Our Lunch Break!
Today we'd had a really busy morning at our B&B so when lunchtime arrived we were ready to take a break. For a change of scene we decided to drive to our local chippy for a lunchtime treat. To get to the chip shop we drove through a few local country lanes and just look at what we saw along the way!

We stopped to speak to the farmer who was tending the donkeys. He told us that that baby donkey had been born just last night.
As you'll know if you read our blog we just love lambs. As we passed number 10 we couldn't resist getting a snap of him as he looked so cute.
What a lovely lunch break we had! The chips weren't bad either!

Lovely Lambs at Easter Time
Every season has something spectacular to offer BUT there's nothing quite like seeing tiny lambs as Spring turns to early Summer. To us watching lambs come out into the fields near our B&B is simply wonderful!

This week ewes and their lambs were let out onto the hillside opposite our orchard. It was a joy for us to watch the lambs skipping about. Here they are - they seemed to be really enjoying themselves!
HAPPY EASTER!

LAMBS
Did you watch Lambing Live on BBC2 last week? We did and just loved the programme. Although The Malthouse is in Alton in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside and there are lots of farms round about we know very little about farming. What a joy this programme was to watch, isn't Kate Humble a great presenter!
This week we have noticed that there are lambs in a field on the opposite side of the valley from us. We can hear them as well as see them! We are busy making the final preparations at our bed and breakfast ready for guests who are arriving this weekend. Alton Towers opens on 20 March 2010 for their main season. Every time we take a break from making up beds we pop outside with a coffee to take a look at the Lambs. We can't help ourselves we have to get a fix now that lambing live has finished!
Of course we have our very own lamb here. Her name is Siobhan and just to prove we're not telling porkies, here is her picture.

She travels everywhere with us. This photo was taken on her latest holiday. We went out collecting shells and she stayed at the hotel resting! When we got back she insisted on having her photo taken with our finds!
