Alton Towers - Mid Week

Many people take a short break away over a weekend but don't always consider taking a few days off during the week. If you are looking to get away why not take a mid week break instead.

Tourist attractions such as Alton Towers are often quieter during the week (particularly at this time of the year) than at the weekend. We had good reports last week from guests staying mid week at our bed and breakfast. They said that the queues at Alton Towers Theme Park were short and the weather fantastic. One poor chap burn his head the sun was so warm!

Thank goodness that flights are coming and going again! We have had guests stay with us over the last few days that should have been in much more exotic locations than Alton. We were delighted to have them visit us but sorry that their plans were ruined. Hopefully they will manage to rearrange their holidays for a date in the near future. We wish them all the best.

Chatsworth Great Garden and House

Did you know that according to this week's Mail on Sunday Live Magazine the gardens at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire are amongst the top ten British gardens?






Many people know that Chatsworth is a splendid house but they don't realise just how spectacular the gardens are. We have visited Chatsworth on a number of occasions and each time we are amazed by just how beautiful the house and gardens are. There is nowhere nicer to go on a sunny day its just fabulous. To make sure that you get to see everything a full day at Chatsworth is a must, it's approximately 45 minutes drive from The Malthouse. Of course Chatsworth is just one of many grand houses that are a short ride away from us. You might also want to consider visiting Haddon Hall, Shugborough Hall, Hardwick Hall or Kedlestone Hall to name just a few.

GOOD WEATHER FORECAST

I have just taken a look at the weather forecast and it seems that spring might have arrived at last! The weather here looks great for the next few days. It has been lovely in Alton this afternoon, a little breezy but VERY sunny. Fingers crossed that it continues for a while at least! There are lots of outdoor jobs to do here at The Malthouse. The grass needs it's first cut so hopefully if we have chance in the next day or two it will get a trim. The guests that have arrived at our B&B today are delighted to see the sun is here and can't wait to go for a day out at Alton Towers tomorrow.
