BAKEWELL SHOW 2010

The beautiful town of Bakewell in Derbyshire hosts it's annual show this week on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th August 2010.



A fantastic family day out the show has something for everyone. There are lots of market stalls, cattle on show, shire horse displays, motorcycle display team, The Sheep Show (not to be missed!) a real laugh, yummy food and lots lots more to see and do.

Bakewell is approximately 45 minutes by car from Alton. If you like a drive out in the countryside you'll enjoy the journey to Bakewell. Ashbourne Show - Saturday 21 August 2010

Ashbourne is a lovely old market town approximately 12 miles away from The Malthouse in Alton. There are independent shops along with a small selection of the usual high street names.

The 119th Ashbourne Show is a real country show organised by the Ashbourne Shire Horse Society. This year's show is on Saturday 21 August 2010 and will take place just on the edge of Osmaston village near to Ashbourne.



If you love animals, the countryside and lots of fresh air this is a day out not to be missed!
There will be all sorts of animals on display looking their best in the hope that they win a prize. The Horse of the Year Show have some qualifying rounds taking place.
There will also be local produce, country crafts and lots more.

Milkshake at Alton Towers

From 9 August to 3 September 2010 there will be lots of fun for little kids at Alton Towers. The theme park are hosting a series of interactive shows at the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre. Churnet Valley Railway

The railway covers a distance of 10.5 miles through beautiful countryside, it's just lovely!

During July and August the railway is open every weekend and also on Wednesdays.

Alton Towers - money off

There are plenty of ways to save money when you visit Alton Towers Theme Park.

Don't forget to look for vouchers offering discount off entry to the theme park. You will find coupons on products in supermarkets, inside newspapers and online. There are usually plenty of vouchers around if you look out for them in advance.

You will also find money off coupons for the Waterpark and Spa at Alton Towers. Offers change all the time so keep your eyes open!

There are plenty of yummy food outlets inside the park but don't forget that you can take your own picnic into Alton Towers. A great idea to save money and eat the food you like!
Alton Towers is a great place for children and adults who are big kids. BUT people are not prepared for how tired out they will be! If you have the time, turn a visit to Alton Towers into a short break and spread your stay over two or three days. This will enable you to make the most of your time without suffering from exhaustion at the end of it!

SMUDGE THE CAT: One seriously fussy pussy!

Doing bed and breakfast can be stressful! Will you have enough sausages for breakfast?

Has the milkman delivered on time? Will it rain on the washing you've just put out?

BUT life is not too hectic for everyone at The Malthouse - our cat Smudge is the most laid back member of the team!
