Well Dressing

Well Dressing is an ancient ceremony to bless a supply of water. The Well Dressings usually take place in local villages at various times from the end of May until the start of September each year.

This vibrant example is from the village of Cressbrook in the millennium year 2000.

The Well Dressing displays are usually made from flower petals pushed into damp clay.
