Our visit to Buxton

The old spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire is a pleasure to visit, we can highly recommend it! We had a rare afternoon off recently and decided to drive to Buxton as we hadn't been there for quite a while. The car journey was around an hour from Alton. We had a steady drive so that we could make the most of the pretty countryside we drove through.

We mooched around the shops and then took a stroll into the Pavillion Gardens as seen below.

We were even lucky enough to find a sunny spot in the gardens to enjoy an ice cream!

The town has some interesting shops and truly beautiful buildings. There are plenty of places to get a light snack, lunch or even afternoon tea!

The Buxton Wells Dressing Festival takes place from 5 - 16 July 2012. For more details see http://www.buxtonwelldressing.co.uk/ .

Buxton even has it's own Opera House hosting a variety of theatre, music and comedy throughout the year see their site http://www.buxtonoperahouse.org/ for details of what's on. The Opera House is fabulous inside and out, attending a performance there is a real treat.

There are many beautiful locations to visit that are a short distance away from our B&B Buxton is just 0ne of them!
